Sport

Sport teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose – it teaches you about life.
Billy Jean-King

Sports not only build better athletes but also better people.
Julie Foudy

School Games Mark

Huish Primary School has been awarded the Platinum Sports Mark for 2025/26.   This has been successfully awarded for the past 4 years.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community and we are delighted to have been recognised for our sporting success.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a culture where being physically active and healthy is embedded within our learners’ day to day lives.

This will be developed through a diverse and broad curriculum, offering a range of physical activities and subjects to ensure students become physically literate and confident.

We will work to develop students’ leadership and coaching skills to embed wider life skills within our students learning.  Leadership gives children the understanding of what it is like to have responsibility and to show respect for rules and brings the added challenge of organisation, communication and teamwork.

We will endeavour to provide as many opportunities as possible for students to experience competitive sport, both within the curriculum and inter-school competitions.  This will be aided by providing a diverse and inclusive extra curriculum programme for all.   Promoting fair play and respect, building character and confidence.
