Year 5 Art Week - Indian Elephants
In Year 5, the children took part in a creative art project in readiness for their India topic after half term, where they designed and made their own elephant masks using modroc. They began by carefully sketching their ideas in their sketchbooks, thinking about the shapes, patterns, and features. To bring their designs to life they added colour plans to their drawings, choosing bright and imaginative colours. Next, the children used modroc strips to build the elephant masks, layering and smoothing the material over moulds, including large ears, long trunks, and textured features. Once the masks had dried and hardened, the children painted their finished creations, using the colours and patterns from their original designs to produce vibrant and unique elephant masks.
