Year 4 - Science Week

We started Science Week by exploring the Knowledge Organisers for our new topic on ‘Animals Including Humans’. Here are some of the questions we want to answer this term:

  • Do vertebrates have a backbone?
  • What does 'Life Processes' mean?
  • What is deforestation?
  • How are animals becoming extinct?

We enjoyed a visit from Jack from ‘Building Energy Experts’, who brought in his thermal imaging camera and helped us to think about ways that buildings can be more energy efficient. We also enjoyed meeting Danielle from ‘MCS Construction’, who set us a fun challenge involving making a structure from straws and connectors within a certain budget.

Later in the week, we started learning about food chains. We had lots of fun making our own food chains using Lego!

We finished Science Week by organising our own ‘Invertebrate Hunt’ investigations. We got into groups and thought of our own big questions about the types of invertebrates that we might find around school. We then went out and explored different areas so we could answer our questions.
