Year 1 Science - Waterproof or Absorbent?

Today we explored two new scientific words - ‘waterproof’ and ‘absorbent'. We conducted a fair test to discover the properties of four different types of material, and discussed which material we felt would make the best umbrella. We found that metal and plastic were waterproof, and following discussion, decided that plastic would make the best umbrella because it can be dyed or see-through (transparent). We thoroughly enjoyed experimenting!
