Year 3 Rocks

Year 3 have been learning about rocks! As part of this, they went on a rock hunt around the school, and found a variety of exciting specimens of various shapes, sizes, textures and hues. As they have started to discuss the 3 main types of rock (metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary as I'm sure we're all aware), the children could barely contain their excitement as we began to talk about which of these types our specimens could be. During their forthcoming quarry trip, the children will view experiments to determine which type of rock a specimen is, and they are looking forward to carrying out these tests on their own rock samples.
