Reception - Sunflowers and Harvest

This week we have been learning about harvest. We have learned some harvest songs such as ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’ and have looked at how farmers gather crops in the Autumn to make sure we have plenty of food in the winter months. We have looked at some of the plants that we can grow and harvest for food in this country, including corn, wheat and sunflowers. We were lucky enough to have a huge sunflower head to explore and harvest the seeds from using tweezers and our fingers! We will keep the seeds safe over winter and plant them in Spring. We have also enjoyed painting beautiful sunflowers which can be seen displayed in our classroom.
