Extended Curriculum

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Extended Curriculum

We appreciate that learning is not just restricted to the classroom. Provision of visiting speakers, external visits and extra curricular clubs provide excellent opportunities to enhance and enrich the children’s learning.

Our structured Pick ‘N’ Mix homework provides children with a choice of different learning experiences to be developed at home with their parents. The variety of suggested activities that can be chosen by the children enables all pupils to engage and utilise their own strengths and interests.

We are able to offer a variety of extra curricular clubs including Football, Multi Sports, Cross Country, Tennis, Cricket, Dance, Choir, Pottery, Art, Poetry, Netball, Benchball, etc.

Music Provision

The music provision at Huish includes a variety of instruments.  Children in year 5 have the opportunity to learn clarinet through class learning.   Private lessons are provided by Somerset Music.

Currently the music providers offers tuition in piano, keyboard, recorders, violin, guitar, ukulele, drums and clarinet.   Other instruments maybe available on request.
